Jennifer's natural talent was recognized at a young age when children and people would stand around her and be entertained by her renderings of animals and people. Her mother sent her to an art school in Huntsville Alabama, learning perspective drawing , shading and tonal value, during a few summers when she was 10. Her 5th grade teacher encouraged her by buying a watercolor painting of fish produced during an art class.
Despite this early success, her family did not support art as a career, so she received a Business Degree in Marketing. Jobs in this field exposed her to graphic design and illustration, gaining insight into the impact of the message as well as skills she contributes to her current style. Feeling completely unfulfilled by the business world, and knowing this was not her "end all", her passion for the arts drove her to learn how to paint in 2001. Landing a "Best of Acrylic" award at the Chisholm Trail Art Show in Duncan, Oklahoma encouraged her to continue. These events started a new vision that would carry over to commission work, wildlife art, portrait art, and the soulful expressions seen in her art today.
Continual learning, and striving for perfection to balance between realism and abstract art leaves many seemingly unfinished pieces. This purposeful state of unfinished or impressionistic style art is where the imagination takes over.
Jennifer studied under Daniel Greene at his studio in New York in 2010, learning the "engineering" behind mixing colors and tonal values. This was where she experienced her first paintings from "life" , and fell madly in love with a breathing model to paint from. In 2011 she was a student of Igor Babailov. In 2012 she was a student of Casey Baugh.
Other contemporary influences she admires and studies are, Everett Raymond Kinstler, Richard Schmid, Rose Frantzen, Henry Yan, James Gurney, Margaret Baumgartner...just to name a few.
Historical influences, Caraggio, Leanardo Da Vinci, Andrew Wyeth.
Jennifer has won several awards for pencil, acrylic and oil paintings in Alabama, Tennessee, and Oklahoma and online. Her artwork hangs worldwide, Germany, Amsterdam, across the United States.
In 2010 Jennifer bacame a full time artist and loves to spend some of her time inspiring others by teaching them to see the world differently, and create their own unique style of art. She contributes her success to her family, who finally realized this was her life, talent and destiny, to God, who sowed the seed of art from the very beginning, in her heart, and showed her the ability to see things beyond what meets the eye.
