  • Re: A Landscape Photo Reference

Art Encounter, I'm glad you appreciate the opportunities this photo provides for a nice landscape painting. I also have another one you might enjoy. I don't have the ability to post it to artist daily.com right now, but if you want to see it, here's the link to the original: http://www.prappphotos...

  • "Sunday Morning"

Well, since I can no longer post photos of my paintings in the "gallery", I'll just post them in the "Oils Forum". This is a 12" x 16" oil on canvas that I painted for the purpose of practicing being more "painterly" in my method. "Sunday Morning"...

  • Album Cover Concept "Lost & Cold"

So I decided to make an album cover. This is not in use, or anything so it's just a concept. • Landescape Dreaming

This painting was done at a time when I was stuck in Sydney town. I was living in a bachelor flat that had steel-barred windows. I felt imprisoned, and dearly wanted to escape into the bushland outside of Sydney. I expressed my frustration into this painting. It was quickly bought by a friend in similar...

  • Granite Bench oil 5"x7"

This roadside park is a perfect place to stretch your legs, have a picnic, sit on the granite bench and watch the roaring waterfalls or hike up on the ledges to the wooden bench to listen to the tumbling stream that flows into the river above the falls.

  • A Light At the End of the Tunnel 5"x7" oil

This was inspired by a DWP challenge to paint the path of light. I think this really tells the story of hope in the midst of a storm. I don't use photos without the photographer's permission, but I came across one on a free-use site that inspired this painting. The photo was really spectacular...

  • Plein Air Painting

En plein air painting is simply creating your painting outdoors. What is plein air painting? En plein air is a French phrase that simply means "in the open air" - and it succinctly sums up the technique. Many artists paint exclusively this way because they produce better lit results than they...
