I am essentially a self-taught artist and paint only in watercolor, since that is what I started with. Some day I may try pastel or oil, but I doubt it since I love WC so much. For some reason, my portrait paintings seem to come out better than landscapes, so I guess I need to work on that more. I have been painting since I retired in 2004 and have taken a few workshops etc. I wish I had the opportunity to have more formal drawing training.....poor drawing=poor painting, especially in watercolor since errors are hard to correct.
