Good to read all the great articles on this site. I will enjoy visiting with other artists about our work, where we sell....(if we sell) and how much time we spend on our art.
I am self taught. Have been drawing since I can remember, (and I am 76 now) and I enjoy drawing people, and am working with that a lot. I like to watercolour these faces, and practice every day with one type of art or another.
I was a mother/homemaker for most of my years, and in the last few, I have explored several mediums. The ones I enjoy most is watercolour and acrylic. I have been encouraged to change to oil, but for me, I prefer the less mess, and more instant progress from acrylics. It is wonderful for the abstract work that I do. Watercolour takes much more patients, as everyone that has done that knows! Chinese Brush Painting is wonderful for dicipline, and I have enjoyed that.
I have been a potter for over 40 years, and enjoy making hand built pieces for the garden. Every now and then, I will do an outdoor show, but it is lots of work, as everyone knows. I have not found a way to market my paintings, and feel overwhelmed with the prolific way I paint, but I keep doing it!!! Going to galleries, showing your work to the gallery owners, etc, is not something I enjoy, although I did make baskets, and marketed them in about 30 galleries several years ago. The baskets were easy to make, send and take along, as they were sea grass with sea kelp around the top. With just one good credit, it was easy to sell the baskets.
That is about my bio, rather uninteresting, but I am a practicing artist, doing my work along, even without an outlet! And enjoying every minute that I paint or pot.
I would be interested in any feed back from anyone in this same space.
