Tammi was born in Elgin Illinois and moved to North Carolina with her family when she was five-years old. Although her mother has stated she began drawing earlier, Tammi remembers drawing as early as age four. Although her constant drawing at home and school usually led to her getting into trouble she managed to graduate a year ahead of her schedule. The early years of determined practice in art have proven beneficial. Tammi’s greatest artistic influence as a child was the great drawings and/or paintings by Gustave Dorà and Michelangelo. As an adult, Tammi has recently began to study the art and teachings of David A. Leffel. Eventually, Tammi became interested in academics and earned her Bachelor Degree in Justice and Policy Studies at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. While in college, she continued to paint commissions. Tammi’s art is not the product of any art school or college influence, but a combination of practice and observance of artists whom she admires. Being the epitome of the born artist has allowed her to create art without restraint revealing her own style of expertise. It is exactly this freedom that is revealed within her Oil paintings. To portray her distinct way of interfacing with the world and expressing with energy and feeling what she sees is her intent with each painting.
