I have had no art instruction with the exception of art classes in public school while growing up. I still have a Learn to Draw kit by John Nagy that I got years ago when I was 10 or so. I have had a few doctors tell me that I needed an outlet to help me relax and "de-stress", so I chose to learn to paint with acrylics.
I am primary care taker for my mother who has cirrhosis of the liver and dementia. I am driver for my mother-in-law (MIL) who is legally blind and has an inoperable brain tumor (3rd one). I am married to a wonderful man who has learning disabilities. We have 2 teenagers. Daughter is 18 and has a host of learning disabilities and son is 17 and thinks he smarter than anyone. I home school both my teens. I am also totally deaf. I lost my hearing 6 1/2 years ago after a lifetime of being hard-of-hearing (HOH). Now, you can see why I need something to help me relax. I used to play the piano, but being deaf, I have lost the feeling of accomplishment that playing gave me.
