My Bio

Hi everyone! My name is Brad. I have practiced dentistry for 30 years in my hometown. I chose dentistry because it is such an artistic, hand skills profession which allows me to fulfil some of my artistic needs. I have been drawing seriously ever since an old family friend gave me my first set of charcoals and a John Gnagy book. My dad gave me his old graumbacher oils and a set of brushes when I was 12 and I have been trying to draw and paint ever since. I have never had training but I have picked up a few books on technique over the years. I had never tried any watercolor until a year ago. I have found that medium very challenging and frustrating (it took me hours just to figure out how to stretch & mount paper, ha!, and I don't have a clue if I am doing it right , now! lol). But I enjoy all the mediums so much. And nothing gives one an appreciation for all others work posted on this site, like trying to do it yourself. The work I find here is so diverse and varied in skill and quality that it is somewhat intimidating for hacks like me. And some of you are so unbelievably talented I am hesitant to even post. But I intend to post as much work as I can and hope for critical feedback as I continue to grow and improve.

Thanks for reading this bio and know that as I begin posting work here that I welcome your opinion, criticism and suggestions on how to improve my technique.
