Desiree Holmes Scherini enjoys creating many styles of art, and working in different media she has a particular love for the atmosphere
and color of impressionism and incorporates these elements
into much of her work. She enjoys sharing her love of art through teaching, as well. She is an adjunct art instructor at Anne
Arundel Community
College and an art instructor at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, in Annapolis MD. She also teaches art privately.
Desiree is an active member of the Annapolis
Watercolor Club, Annapolis Arts Alliance,
the Maryland Federation of Art, the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (board member),
Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters (board member). Her art has been displayed in several
juried and non-juried shows, and is displayed in homes
and businesses around the United
States and overseas.
Her artwork was featured on the cover and
promotional materials for the Baltimore Symphony’s Decorators’ Show House
2006. Her painting “Abstract Annapolis”
was chosen for ARTWORKS 2006 and her painting “Holidays at City Hall” (shown above) was featured on the Mayor of
Annapolis’
holiday greeting card in 2007. She was the chosen to create the artwork for the celebrated Eastport Yacht Club Annual Lights Parade for 2009. Her artwork appeared on posters and publications celebrating the event. In 2011 her painting "Sailing the Chesapeake" was chosen to represent the 30th Annual Hospice Cup, a charity regatta supporting hospices in Northern Virgina, DC and Maryland. The image appeared on posters, t shirts, wine labels and promotional materials. The original was donated to auction to raise funds for hospice care.
