Hello, my name is Shirley Sorenson, a baby boomer and a wannabe FANTASTIC artist. I had been painting since 1982, more of a Sunday artist. I am a member of the Pine River Art Club and had been since 1984. We put together a exhibit and sales every year in the Summerfest which is a four day whoopee do the last week of June. I usually whipped out like approx. 10 -15 paintings a year for the show. I do both oils and acrylics and never inspired to do watercolors. Now that I am kinda retired and would like to do more rendering. I do landscapes with sunsets, sunrises, autumn, winter with the lake in the picture. You know, we are the land of 10,000 lakes so there is plenty of inspiration, I like to explore nuances of the nature, trying out colors and be fascinated with the experiments of colors mixed together. I graduated with an AAS degree in Applied Art and had been a freelance graphic artist since 1982. I went to a few workshops like Foster Cadell's in Connecticut where we painted plen air every day for 2 weeks from 8 to 5. I am pretty much self taught and had had ran into obstacles which frustrates me to no end. But the spirit is there. My favorite reading is about art, artists, techniques, and it is golly always so interesting. It is the most interesting adventure anyone can get into and it never bores or get stagnant. I hope to be active in here with friends.
