I started painting back in 1996 as a result of partial hearing loss from what was my other passion of playing electric guitar. I started learning acrylic landscape painting with one of the TV painters Jerry Yarnell. Then in 2004 I decided I would switch to oils and become a plein air painter all on the "same day". What an interesting day that was when I went outdoors for the first time confronted with nature. And with a new medium that stayed wet as opposed to acrylic which dried almost instantly. Now in 2009 I am just getting used to oil. I once heard it said that the more you learn about painting you realize how much you don't know and how much more there is to learn. Thankfully the joy is in the process. Ok admittedly the frustration is in the process too but it just means I need to learn some more.
