Patrick Connors [1958– ]
Patrick Connors is
a 1980 graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and 1982 graduate
of the University of Pennsylvania. His artwork is
exhibited internationally and is included in both private and public collections.
In the past decade, his paintings and drawings were exhibited at the Hirschl & Adler
Galleries, Butler Institute of American Art, Arcadia Gallery, Pennsylvania
Academy of the Fine Arts, New York Academy of Art, Independence Seaport Museum,
Woodmere Art Museum, and National Academy of Design.
Connors teaches at
the Graduate School of the New York Academy of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of
the Fine Arts, and the Institute of Classical Architecture: Beaux–Arts Atelier
and Rome Programs. Institutions at
which he has lectured include: Yale University Art Gallery, Drexel School of
Medicine, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. His published articles include:
"Through the Picture Plane: The Poetry in the Pictorial Space of Thomas
Eakins"; "Chiaroscuro and the Ambiguity of Gloom"; and "The
Legacy of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts."
In 2002, he was
awarded an Oxford University Summer Residency Fellowship in painting and
anatomy. In 1998 he was awarded a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant for
painting. He was the select alternate for a Senior Research Fulbright
Scholarship for Italy in 1999.
Connors has
completed numerous private and public commissions for portrait, figure,
landscape, still life, and mural painting.
