I read your bio, and see, like me, you have no formal fine art training. Your paintings have a maturity about them that many "trained" artists just do not possess. Paint with passion, and keep going. I predict, that with dedication, your art will become quite significant.

"old Glory"

No Munawadie, I don't thin my paint. As a matter of fact I don't even add medium to my oils. My natural tendency is to apply paint even too thinly for my own taste. I have to force myself to apply it more thickly. I love the butteryness of oil paint and I do like to see brush strokes. I think brush strokes show the energy and thought process of painting.

I have seen more of your work in the member's gallery and it really is quite good. Thanks so much for your comment!

Good morning munawadie

Yes, I sure do agree with you bio. Mixing colors and seeing them on the canvas is a wonderful experience. I have been pegged as a "romantic" realist, but I really think I am part colorist as well. Color says so much. It can be happy, moody, soft or in your face. Isn't it wonderful.

Thanks

Thanks Muna for leaving the nice comment about my drawing. Just curious what you think about the soft edges and "unfinished" look especially on the outer part of the head. Does it work or not?

All the best -- Paul

Thank you

Muna,

Thank you for you nice compliments on my painting. It was a bit tough going midway through this one but I kept going and started to be a bit happier with the final.

I really enjoy seeing your posts here too, so keep posting!

All the best -- Paul

Thanks

Thank you for the nice comments on my Facial Study 2. I just discovered working on mylar -- it's lots of fun and easier to sneak some time away than setting up to paint. I enjoy seeing your work in the Gallery. The painting turned-out more graphic than initially intended, but it's certainly bright!

thank you

Thanks for the comment about my Coyote. It started out as a study, in oil on paper, and I didn't prepare the paper with any coating like gesso. I know the painting will not last throughout the ages, but as I painted the coyote, it became one of my favorites. The deep blue in the background does make it stand out even more.

Thanks for your interest.

I'm just starting out painting and could use all the helpful advice I can get.

Thanks in advance .... all the best!

Two on the Table

Muna,
Thanks for your comments about my painting.
Interesting perspective -- it's funny that a paintier can look at their own work and not notice something like that. Now that you point it out the background looks a bit like a continuation of the table.

I like your work very much -- keep it up!
