My Bio

I have been painting and teaching since the mid sixties.  One of my watercolor paintings is in "Splash 3".  I am the owner of my own coop studio and rent space to other artists.  My techniques are quite varied as I like to keep my students interested, so we paint many different subjects.  I have had the opportunity to teach abroad in Italy and France.  Beside my family, art is "MY LIFE"

  • Teaching cruise

    Just returned home from my Alaska teaching cruise.  Large groups of students, (forty at a time) enthusiastic group painted scenes from our" ports of call" that I prepared beforehand.  Gorgeous weather.

  • art show

    The Fremont Art Association will be featuring a show of my works, mixed media, mostly watercolor April 8-May 2, 2011.  The title of the show is "Treasures from My Studio".  There will be a reception April 10, 1:30-4:30 P.M.  The public is invited.

  • Teaching

    I have a busy summer ahead.  My teaching cruises this year include Alaska aboard the celebrity Infinity May 10-20th, the Adriatic sea aboard the Queen Victoria  August 1-18th and The Holy Land October 28-Nov. 16 aboard the new Queen Elizabeth.  I also will be teaching a workshop here in California in the Santa Cruz Mountains at the end of September.  If you are interested in any of them, please contact me through my website.  www.jansartstudios.com.

  • Art Show

    Hi all, I will be having a showing of my students paintings at Mission Coffees, 151 Washington Blvd.  Fremont, Ca. 94538 February 1-28.  These paintings are ones that they created at a workshop I gave in the Dordogne region of France last Sept/Oct. 2008 as well as at a Gouache workshop at my studio in Fremont, Ca. There will be a reception Feb. 8th from 3-5 P.M. Everyone is invited if you happen to be in the area.  thanks,  Jan
