Hello everyone
I am a born and raised upstate NY'er living and working now in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Life in Canada is very different for this NY girl and I get homesick for the things we take for granted in the States.
In 2001, I founded International Plein Air Painters Worldwide organization, as an action to the reaction of becoming an ex-pat.
I am happy to say, we are still going strong 8 years later and are in our 7th Edition of sponsoring the Worldwide Paint Out globally.
I have been a plein air painter since the mid seventies. It's where my inspiration lies.
My formal training from Munson Williams Proctor School of Art (now part of Pratt Institute) is in traditional oils since the age of 10.
I found when I started my career as a professional artist, my oils were tight, detailed, and did not express me at all.
I abandoned oils and began painting in Watercolor en plein air. My mentor, Lawrence C. Goldsmith, AWS fabulous watercolorist, of Vermont and Monhegan Island was a dear friend until his passing. That lasted for almost 25 years.
Full circle, I began painting in oils again about 5 years ago. The joy was back and I was painting much more freely - with less reverence for my formal training.
Like most artists, I'm continually learning and growing.
