My Bio

Eric Armusik is a romantic figurative painter. His skills are appreciated by critics and patrons because of his ability to combine technical brilliance with elaborate drama and emotion in both his figures and their settings. Eric’s early experiences with art were staring at the ceilings during church at the local Roman Catholic cathedral each Sunday as a child.  Seeking out formal training after school, Eric attended Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a B. F. A. in painting, and a minor in an art history focusing on Baroque art. He spent one semester studying painting and art history in Italy. The rare opportunity to view masterworks by Baroque painters Caravaggio and Artemisia Gentileschi had a profound effect on the direction and quality of his work.   Today Eric’s paintings have established him as one of today’s strongest purveyors of traditional figurative painting.

Eric Armusik is a skilled portrait and figure painter. His paintings have been displayed in galleries and museums in Philadelphia, New York, and Florence, Italy.  In early May 2010, Eric’s artwork was picked for the prestigious Chairman’s Choice Award in Art Renewal Center’s International Salon out of 1700 entries from artists of 30 countries, clearly setting him as one of the most promising figurative artists in the genre of realism today. His paintings are in the permanent collections of The Trenton City Museum, Lehigh Valley Hospital and numerous private collections.  His work has also been prominently featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, ARTFORUM, American Artist Magazine, American Art Collector, Victorian Homes Magazine, Old House Journal, and ArtMATTERS.

I've followed for almost a decade.  Great newsletter and very resourceful insight into the business end of being an artist from someone who is an artist herself, Aletta deWal.  You can imagine how thrilled I was to find out they had picked me to be the July artist of the month.  I had a great time speaking with them and I can tell you there are more things in the works for the future.  For now enjoy this small sample of the interview...

Eric Armusik Pushes the Boundaries of Art Making and Art Marketing

A.C.T.: What prompted you to start your professional art career?

It was quite evident at an early age that I was destined to be an artist - much to the chagrin of my parents. Both were college graduates and desired that I pursue a college degree, but they were concerned that a degree in art would not be a lucrative pursuit. I’ve never been good with people giving me advice, especially when they have no understanding of my tenacity. I had no interest in any other field, and quite honestly, it would have been a waste of my talent ...
