I grew up in Northern Virginia and was encouraged from an early age to be creative. Once teenager, I developed
into a more deliberate art student, taking painting classes at the Corcoran
School of Art and advanced art classes in high school
I graduated with a BFA
from the Maryland Institute, College
of Art in 1992. During
this time I had the opportunity to study the Italian Renaissance hands on in Florence, Italy
through a semester abroad program. I continued my education at George Mason
University with a focus in
art history.
I love to explore the
many possibilities watercolor offers, appreciating the way art brings forth new
abilities within myself. I also love to draw with graphite and pastels. I feel
I am closer to the subject matter when working from life, but interest in
photography leads me often to work from pictures I have taken. I take delight
in the observation of my surroundings and I like capturing my interpretation of
seemingly commonplace moments through intense study of color and light.
I currently live in Rome, Italy
with my husband and two daughters.
