While earning a BFA I was
encouraged to explore all types of art, this offers an artist an opportunity to
develop in many different areas, all which improved my over all approach to
art. I spent many years teaching both traditional painting and oriental
painting, all which can come into play in unique ways as I paint. I developed
an international reputation as a sculptor in AKC Dog shows with several
challenge trophy and international sales of my sculptures, paintings, and
drawings. I also sold work nationally in portrait painting, oriental painting,
and scrimshaw engravings. I now spend much of my time painting en plein
air, spending my days in some of the most beautiful environments in the world,
interpreting the glory of life.
I enjoyed my years doing fine art for the dog show
circuit and I made some serious money doing it, but I gave it up
because it isn't where my heart is now and I felt I had so much more to say on a much deeper level with my art. I have always followed my heart in doing
my work, studying oriental painting, life drawing, and portraiture, while I developed my skills in art. It is a blessing that at this age and time in
my life I have the skills and emotional well being to do my best
work. Having worked hard at my art all my life I am capable of
doing quality work with complex subject matter. I work in
several different venues and although I want success I am more interested in
the quality of my work and what I say with my art ; and being a kind person
and loving my days here on this planet.
