Trompe De L'iole style of realism using Charcoal and graphite pencils. This picture at first seems like an almost normal still life but in reality is anything but that. It is a visual play-on-words as the "flies" are drawn to the banana believing the picture to be real. Two of the flies are In the picture while the rest are On the picture. Enjoy!

About David K. Betts

David K. Betts was born in New Orleans, La. Growing up in The Big Easy, as New Orleanians refer to as home, was a rich environment for artistic growth. "I have always been fascinated by detail in Art as well as Music." I started drawing my favorite comic book characters at the age of 5 and expanded from there.. One year after graduating High School I enlisted in the Military (US. Army). After retiring from a career in the military my wife saw some of my previous work and "insisted" that I pursue it on a more serious level. From that moment on I have dedicated a portion of my life to producing, teaching and exhibiting fine art.
