About Krys Pettit

How do you capture a moment in time -- light, color, shadows? How do you express the fragrance of a blooming garden, summer heat on the water, cold crispness of a winter morning? I use my art to tell a story and to capture these unique moments in time. These impressions are gathered from my travel in the United States and abroad. I paint memories, wonderful images that have left me with a sense of beauty, serenity and delight. I fell in love with creating art as soon as I could hold a pencil - it must have been around the age of 1! And I have continually created art, whether with my first love, watercolor paint, oil, acrylic, or pencil. I'll never stop loving it! I have painted for many years – I feel I am a painter of flowers and the way they enhance and bring joy to our lives. I try not to limit my subject matter – because my inspiration may come from a stormy sky at the beach, a moonlit night gracing a beautiful building, or the soft, sweet rustle of palm trees on a Florida beach. I work from my photographs of my travels – the best way for me to capture the memory and the excitement I feel when I see that image that I know will make a beautiful piece of artwork. Sometimes I work quickly to try to put this feeling on paper or canvas. And sometimes I will take a long time to express that feeling I had. I primarily use watercolor paint although sometimes I am equally happy with a pencil and a crayon.
