I painted a new version of "Tiffanie's Balloon". Again, I used handmade paper – but, this time I coated it with gesso first. I used Daniel Smith's new watercolor ground – but, I'm sure any gesso would do the job. With a coat of gesso I was able to blend the color and soften the edges easier. Tiffanie is now 14. I was working from a photo I took of her when she broke her arm for the first time. She was almost three at the time. She is seen struggling with the many ribbons tangled onto her remaining pink balloon. I'm quite satisfied with the results – perhaps it is even better than my first attempt. I plan to enter this one into a major juried exhibition in New Mexico. Matted and framed the painting will measure 30 x 24 inches.
