Stanley's Garden

Acrylic on canvas 20X16, July, 2013

This is my first commissioned work. I was showing a picture of a painting I did of my dog to a co-worker and she asked me if I would paint her little Lhasa Apso dog named Stanley, who passed away last year.

I placed Stanley in a garden setting with the flowers in the portrait (Forget-me-not's, dandelions, carnations, etc,) having symbolic meaning according to the language of flowers.

About Gary Richardson

I was born in the small prairie town of Madison, on the great plains of eastern South Dakota in January of 1961.

I grew up in Yankton, finished high school in Sioux Falls, and attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where I studied theatrical design.

I currently live in Arizona and have just started painting - which I immensely enjoy .
