Shore Leave (study)

I paint alla prima, and in order to stay true to the color palette I have established for an upcoming painting, I create a small study of every work before I embark on the larger one. Shore Leave (study) (original oil painting on canvas panel, 5 x 7) joins other small works in the Miniatures and Studies category of my website and offers collectors a low-impact means of adding original art to their walls.

While a "study" means different things to different artists, my definition of it is more fully explained on the website article, What is a study? How is it different from a miniature? by Carolyn Henderson, manager of Steve Henderson Fine Art.
