September Dawn, Little Sioux River – 6X8" oil on mounted canvas

September Dawn, Little Sioux River is a 6X8 oil on mounted canvas.  The image is typical for my work in oils…I prefer representational work and work in areas of personal and professional interest.  I have been working the the area of our natural heritage in the Tallgrass Prairie region.  I've recently been woking with a prairie river near our prairie remnant home and studio/gallery…the Little Sioux River. About Bruce Morrison

Bruce Morrison

Native Iowa artist Bruce Morrison's interest in all things of nature stem from his early years along the Des Moines River valley in north central Iowa. Although interested in all wild things, birds and the landscape were always foremost in his mind.

Morrison studied art at the University of Iowa's School of Art, where he received a BFA in 1975. Bruce's work has been exhibited at many state, national, and international exhibitions since 1974.

Since 1983, Bruce has been accepted into the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's internationally acclaimed "Birds in Art" exhibition 5 times. In 1986-87 his serigraph "Wenesaga Magpies" was selected for the "Birds in Art" international tour across the U.S. to Beijing, China. Bruce's work can now be found in the LYWAM's permanent collection.

Bruce has donated many works to help the conservation and educational causes of organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers, and other educational organizations.

Nature photography is also a passion of Morrison's and many of his photographs have been published as covers or for the illustration of articles for magazines, and in calendars distributed in the U.S. and Canada.

Many of Bruce's works - paintings, drawings, serigraphs, and photography, can be found in public, private, and corporate collections in North America and overseas.

Bruce has a deep personal interest in the natural heritage of our remaining tall grass prairie, and much of his work over the past decade has been deeply influenced by this subject, He has spent the past decade in devoting time, energy, and his work in futhering and encouraging prairie reconstruction/restoration projects and education in NW Iowa.
