Romancing the Queen

14" x 11" oil on canvas. I love wine and chess, but I dont play much chess anymore, or drink very much wine, so I paint them instead. I was going to name this piece a study of whites, but that sounded a little dry.

About Jose Pardo

I was born in 1964 and migrated from Cuba to Spain at the age of 5 with my mother. I spent two years in the outskirts of Madrid learning to play futbol and picking up the local accent. When we arrived in the United States I was overwhelmed at the enormity of cars and skyscrapers in New York City. As a child I loved to travel into Manhattan with my grandfather to purchase fabrics for his custom taylor business.

I have been influenced by many artists and teachers of the past and present throughout my artistic career, but none more so than Thomas Carcich. Mr Carcich  was instrumental in guiding me to study art in college.

After receiving my BFA from Jersey City State College (now New Jersey City University) in 1988, I worked  for several  small advertising agencies in New Jersey as an artist before marrying and moving to Orlando Florida to start a family with my wife in 1992.

In Orlando I've worked as an illustrator and designer for companies such as Disney, Scholastic, and Universal Studios. I still live and paint in Orlando with my wonderfully supportive wife, two amazing children, and three mischievous cats.
