About Jill Lena Ford

Jill Lena Ford is an abstract artist working in her self developed style of art called ‘Organic Mixed Media’. This unique form of painting is characterized by the use of natural materials such as sand, shells, stones and leaves, in combination with acrylic and oil paints. She often explores diverse lands and cultures, and many of the natural materials used in her paintings are collected during her global travels.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native earned a Bachelor of Fine Art with a painting major in 2001 and a Masters degree in Art Education in 2006 from Northern Arizona University. Her works have been shown in galleries and exhibitions held throughout the country, and she has painted murals internationally in Belize, Indonesia, Laos, Morocco and Thailand. She has earned numerous awards for her artistic achievements including 'Best of Show', 'People's Choice', 'Top Notch Award', and 'Pittsburgh's Featured Artist' at the Pittsburgh International Airport.

In the past she has shared her talents by teaching and developing community art programs at various art schools and non-profit centers in both Arizona and Pennsylvania. She also has played a positive role in the community by working as a mentor through the arts to at-risk youth and by developing and facilitating community art projects using recycled materials.

She lives on the magical Hawaiian island of Kauai where she creates art, embraces the beauty of nature, and continues to explore her unlimited creative possibilities. If you can’t find her there, she is probably out trekking the globe in search of new inspiration!
