After Edgar Payne, one of the greatest landscape painters. You can learn a lot by dissecting the work of masters. Line, composition, design…it's all there for the learning. So here I've learned a lot about the big shapes and composition by doing this "sketch." Keeping it simple and getting to the essence, keeping the brushstrokes loose and still rendering the enormous power of the ocean. Please let me know what you think, this is a 14 x 18 oil on linen. Thanks for looking!
