Portrait – after a long hiatus

First , a great big thank you to Artist Daily for making me December's Artist of the Month!  And to you all who sent encouragement and support while I was away from the easel!

So let me say officially, hello again my artist daily friends, it has been a long time since I've posted. This is my first attempt at painting since I took a brief pause to attend to family matters, and it turned out to be a good change for me. It is a 14 x 18 oil on canvas, and had its challenges, done from a photo which blurred every time I enlarged it on my computer, having never met the couple and dealing with photo lighting that was not taken to be painted! So, I did my best, and the recipient loved it so I guess I did ok. As always I would love your thoughts and critiques. I hope the new year finds you happy, healthy and painting!

About Christina Evans

I was born in New Jersey, my family moved to California when I was young and now I am living the country life in Spotsylvania, Virginia with my own family.  I paint in an impressionistic style and the subject of my work is always light and the mood associated with it.  I use photographs, sketches and memory to capture the light and shadows and the essence of a particular place.   With a supportive husband and two children who love to paint along with me, I have the wonderful opportunity to pursue what I love to do.  I appreciate all feedback on this site,  I think that is the best way to keep learning and improving.
