Oil, Mara Schasteen, 2010
20" x 24"
I posted an aspen study a few days ago that was supposed to be the start of a very different landscape. That painting was absolutely NOT working out the way I had planned. After I had reached the point of utter frustration with that piece, my amazing friend, Natalie, taught me something I will take with me for the rest of my life: Be inspired, not overzealous. There is a difference. Thank you, my friend.
This painting is inspired by a gorgeous place near my house. I invented the scene from a series of photos I shot last summer and I believe my brush has truly captured the magic of this place.
I'm posting close-ups.
