This is watercolor and gouache on a quarter sheet of buff colored, hot press paper, either Fabriano, Stonehenge or Rives. I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this paper! It is by far the easiest and most satisfying surface I've worked on.
At our annual 4th of July parade there were probably close to 50 horses and riders, and he was one of them. This depicts a moment from the pre-parade assembly where all the floats, riders and other parade participants gather to line up.
