"Over or Under?", oil on linen, 9" x 9", by Cory Trepanier

"We are blessed in Caledon to have a wide variety of natural regions, despite being so close to the largest city in Canada. Among those are 4 rivers that begin their journeys lakeward, a testament to the vast moraine that the region sits upon. They all offer different visual opportunities and while hiking along the Credit River, this scene caught my attention. I have to admit that it's not the meandering waterway I thought I might find to paint. But while hiking, this elevated log blocking the trail caused me to pause to plan my approach. The effect of this obstacle also caused me to take note of the incredible micro jungle all around me. With the midday light filtering in, I decide to forgo the river and set up here instead."
