Old House with Flamboyant tree

Acrylic on stretched canvas, 18" x 24". This is how our ancestors used to live in the 1940's -50's in Puerto Rico. This is a combined work of two photos, the house with very high mountains in the background and the Flamboyant tree. So I did a little landscape surgery. This is my "late" mothers day gift. I'm sure she'll be very nostalgic.

About Juan A. Quiles

Born in Queens, NY, lived in Puerto Rico since 1972. I've been drawing and painting since I started school at five and have never stopped. I love drawing in pencil more than any other media. I paint in acrylic and pastel. I also do murals once in a while. I studied at the "Escuela de Bellas Artes" (School of Fine Arts) in Arecibo PR where I earned a certificate in acrylic painting. I also studied advanced drawing, sculpture, relief carving and relief printing. I enjoy all forms of art and try to practice my favorites as often as I can. I had a sign & graphics arts business 4 years ago, but due to an accident I had to close and retire. I recently took up stained glass as a new hobby and enjoying it very much.
