Morning sketch

This is a stuffed piranha that amused people in our office for years. I don't know how old this thing is but eventually everyone lost interest in using it as practical jokes and it ended up stuffed in a dark store room. I found it and before he ended up in a trash can thought I'd do a watercolor sketch of him. He is pretty beat up with parts of his tail and fins missing and his skin is a little sticky for some reason so I figure he will just fall apart one of these days.  I named him Peter. It's over 10 inches long so I'm figuring at one point in this fishes life it was swimming happily in the Amazon or something. It's on two metal rods hidden by the beads and set in a wooden block. 9×9 watercolor sketch in a sketch book with 93lb. multimedia paper using a #9 sable mop brush for the whole thing.

About C. Brown

I'm 58 yr. old. I work full time for a private non-profit organization in Ohio.  I try to draw or paint something every day.  At the moment the majority of the pictures I will be posting here are from my sketch book so there are going to be sometimes unfinished paintings and some with obvious eye sores here and there in the painting. Watercolor can be unforgiving and I'm working on understanding what to expect from it. Once I build up some confidence I would like to take a basic drawing class at the Columbus Community College and also a Saturday figure drawing class at Columbus College of Art and Design. Now that I'm a member of the Artists Daily community I'm looking forward to taking advantage of all the free instructional downloads available to members.
