A graphite on Bainbridge #80 portrait of Marlene 40"x60"
Framed under glass so not a good picture.
Here she wore a huge, fringed mantilla for a carnival scene in the 1935 film The Devil Is A Woman.
I work from original vintage studio publicity photos, which are as far from how real people look as it gets. The lighting, dramatic makeup, costumes and the heavy duty retouching that went into creating these images took some serious effort from each department, but after all these women were products of an industry that sold flesh for fantasy.
