Lighthouse at Acadia

This lightouse is "loosely" based on the Bass Harbor Lighthouse in Acadia National Park, Maine (yes, artistic liberties were taken – ahem – lol.  The size is 11 x 14" acrylic on canvas.  Yes, I tried a new medium (Acrylic)… just to see if I liked them. I can't say it's one of my favorite mediums though, and will probably be the last time I use them.  I'm rather pleased with the way this one turned out though (excuse the crooked picture)… This is now in the hands of a family member for Christmas and they loved it (or so they said – wink – lol).

About Laura G

Hello and welcome to my American Artist site!  I'm a forty-something artist and mother of two... I've began taking painting classes in December 2006, and I enjoy working with oils, watercolor, mixed media and acrylic.  I've won a few local awards and one national award (in oil painting).

When I can I love to go scuba diving, camping and traveling.  I also enjoy photography, creative writing, stimulating conversations and great music.  More than anything else I enjoy art, viewing, participating in, studying and sharing ideas! I try to keep pushing myself to get better, try new things (even outside my comfort zone - like acrylic - lol).  I feel that we learn and grow and add new aspects to our work when we try new/different mediums.

Please feel free to leave comments on my art pieces... I'd love to hear from you.  :)
