Iris Ikebana

This was the first time I had painted flowers from life, usually using a photographic reference.  It took about 90 minutes and just got it finished before rain set in.  The scene had a very busy background which I decided to omit altogether, but would love some feedback on suitable background techniques for this type of painting.

About Michelle Endersby

For me painting is a journey I didn't even know I was going to embark on.  But now I have headed down the pathway which delights, amazes and sometimes frightens me, I must press on.  Mostly it is a very solitary pursuit, but the encouragement, advice and generosity from fellow travellers has been enlightening and heart warming.  Like Santiago in Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" I don't know where this journey is taking me so I am just following the signs that appear and finding my inspiration in the beauty of nature.
