"friday on the bay" measures roughly 4"x4" square. I don't know why, but the color of the water and sky seem to get richer when you go out into it. A kayak can make everything even more amazing! This is from out on the water…. soaking up those colors!
This is an Original painting done entirely in encaustics on a wood panel, it has been mounted on top of a piece of wood, allowing a border to the painting. It can be hung on the wall, or easily balanced on a mantle or shelf.
Encaustic painting is a very old technique that involves color pigments melted into bees wax and resin. These "paints" are then applied in a molten state, and must be heated in order to manipulate. There are many layers. It is great fun! The finished painting will have rich texture and depth. Once complete, it is a durable surface. Just avoid placing it anywhere that is hotter than 165 degrees (good rule of thumb for anything, really 🙂
