About George H Broom

I was born in 1945 in Minneapolis Minnesota. I was drawing as far back as I can remember, and I got my first oil pant set for Christmas at the age of 12, and I have been painting ever since. My education included a Vocational high school, which I selected for its courses for a career in Commercial Art. After high school, I attend the the University of Minnesota, graduating with an Associate In Arts Degree. From the University of Minnesota, I was hired by the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company Newspapers, one of the countries largest daily newspapers, as a Copy and Layout Artist. I worked in this capacity for fourteen years, achieving the title of Chief Layout Artist. After taking a "buyout" when the morning Tribune merged with the evening Star in the late 1970's, I went on my own as a Freelance Commercial Artist.

I retired in 2007, and since retiring, I have been able to pursue my love of painting.
