"Clear Skies Ahead"

After developing a respect for, and seeing the awesomeness of the clipper ship, I embarked on a passionate pursuit and study of these tall majestic wonders. I began my first clipper painting and by the time it was finished, my focus and passion for them had increased all the more. This clipper is called "The Lightning" and was built by Donald MacKay in Boston in the early 1850's. It represents the "clear skies ahead" for us, as we put our trust in God through the various storms and trials of life.   The original has sold, however, beautiful Limited Edition Giclees are available in three sizes  18" x 27,"   24" x 36,"   30" x 45"

About Del Malonee

I was born and raised in California. I am married and the father of three wonderful children. After college, I began what I consider an ongoing lifestyle of “being self-taught.” During my late twenties, I began my own sign/graphics business. Later I became art director for two electrical sign corporations, one being the nation’s largest. I freelanced, doing full color architectural renderings for architects and developers in California and Nevada. For many years, I have had a strong passion for the ocean. I am continually drawn by its power, beauty and peacefulness. I began painting the sea years ago and its continually changing moods. To be able to respectfully capture the ocean on canvas, I continually study photographs and videos that I have taken depicting different times and seasons of the year. I am now pursuing my passion to paint delectable gourmet chocolates, oils on canvas, in many different still-life settings. My desire is to portray a subject that has captured so many of us throughout the centuries. Chocolate has the power to entice us visually, as well as, through our palette by the luring of its mouth watering tendencies. We all have many happy memories of days gone by of indulging in this marvelous delicacy in one form or another. I create the precise still-life setting that I envision using important key elements to accomplish my vision and place it onto canvas. I am explicit in every detail from staging the most dramatic lighting for my setting, as well as, choosing the most tastefully ideal subject for each painting. I offer my incredible chocolate paintings as oil on canvas originals, as well as, high quality giclees on canvas. Giclees are available in various sizes and are extremely collectable and numbered editions. I offer giclees that can be framed and canvas wraps, over an inch deep, which do not require framing.
