Black and Blue #1

I have not posted on here for quite some time, but I figured it was time to come back!  This is the first of a new idea I've been working on.  It's an abstract portrait study, done in black colored pencil on blue paper.  I did use a blue colored pencil for a little blending, but I kept that to a minimum, as I wanted these to be very simple.  They're quite small, 3×5 inches.  They actually came to be because I had a large piece of blue paper that had a piece cut out of it, but I didn't want to throw it away, so I cut it into little pieces and just drew the first thing that came to mind.  I have 6 more finished, which I'll post one by one, and I have about 15 more blank little blue rectangles to fill, after which I'll have to figure out which direction to go.

About Robert Ciampa

My work consists primarily of pencil and colored pencil drawings, although I do enjoy pastel and charcoal occasionally, and I have been know to paint once or twice every decade or so.  Most of my subjects (but not all!) are automotive in nature, and lately I've taking a realist approach, trying to capture as much detail as I can.  However, I do find that doing some really loose work every now and then clears out the cobwebs quite effectively!
