This was done from some photos of roosters that I took last year at the Tennessee State Fair. This guy had a champion ribbon on his cage and acted like he knew what it meant! The photos were taken through the wire mesh cage but that was quite easy to ignore for painting purposes.
I painted it on this checkered vinyl just on a whim and to show my students that we can think creatively outside the box with good results. (Well, I was sincerely hoping it would turn out well and be inspirational to them! I would hate to disillusion the kids especially.) My 'model' rooster was nowhere near this colourful but once again, I am not afraid to use my 'artistic licence'.
I was walking through a craft store and saw a pile of fabric remnants. This material was tablecloth vinyl. So it's a live chicken on the tablecloth instead of a cooked one. It was purchased by a lady who liked the crazy idea as much as I did!
