Autumn in New York

This is a 24 x 30 palette knife oil painting of a barn in Cuddebackville, New york. I had painted this subject once before in a smaller size (20×24) and decided to do it again.  I took the first one to an art show,  did a trade with the artist next to me and came home with one of her wood and glass water feature tables!

About Sherry Armstrong

I grew up in upstate New York where I was inspired by the vast beauty of the area. I remember walking for hours in the woods just to absorb the smell of the leaves, the sound of the creek and the trust of the animals surrounding me. I try to reflect that sense of peace in my paintings.

I learned to draw at a very young age, and am primarily a self taught artist and photographer. I practiced drawing portraits of my brothers and landscapes of the hills surrounding my home. I now work in both oil and acrylic.

I moved to Florida at 18 where I lived for several years, and then moved to Arizona where I've lived and worked for the past 32 years. I'm constantly inspired by the versatility of this state and am drawn once again to the deep woods of Northern Arizona and the Red Rocks of Sedona.

I've done many commissioned portraits and landscapes over the years and am looking forward to retiring and painting full time in the near future.
