About Marsha

As long as I can remember, I have loved to draw and paint. Majoring in art in college and teaching art to children and adults have encouraged me to experiment with almost every medium imaginable — charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, oil, watercolor, acrylic, batik, fabric painting, encaustic, sculpture, collage and mixed media.

I work primarily in pastel, both in portraiture and plein air painting when I can. I am a member of Piedmont Outdoor Painting Society and Piedmont Portraits. I have been fortunate over the years to study portraiture and figurative work with Marcus Blahove, Daniel Greene, Scott Burdick, Susan Lyon, Steve Childs, Clayton Beckand Margaret Dyer; pastel with Kitty Wallis, Albert Handell and Louise West, Doug Dawson, Susan Sarback, Diane Johnson, Jack Pardue, Susan Ogilvie and  Bob Rohm.

In 2007, I was honored to receive the Award of Excellence Pastel Society of North Carolina's First National Juried Exhibition.
