About Patricia Novella Hayes

Patricia Novella Hayes, Artist

A mainly self taught artist inspired by her love of nature which reflects in her paintings and in her jewelry.  Pat is currently focused on acrylics and oils and is beginning to explore mixed media and collages.   She was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala.  She is married with three daughters and has lived in Panama and in the Philippines. Trained as a teacher and a registered nurse, Pat recently retired and is living in Fishing Creek, Maryland.

Pat is a member of Tryon Painters and Sculptors, Tryon Arts and Crafts, Rutherfordton Artists Guild and Lake Lure Artist in North Carolina. A former member of Wednesday Morning Artists, the Dorchester Center for the Arts and the Main Street Gallery in Cambridge, Maryland.  Her paintings have been exhibited at the Seafront Compound - US Embassy in Manila, the Dorchester Center for the Arts and the Main Street Gallery in Cambridge, Maryland.  She is one of the contributing artists to the Cannery Way mural in Cambridge, Maryland, and at the Tryon Painters and Sculptors and The Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, NC.

While living in the Philippines Pat took a painting class from Renee Ranney Croghan and her love for painting was awakened at the time but it was not until 2002 when she started to paint again.  After Pat retired in the summer of 2008 she began to take painting classes offered at the Dorchester Center for the Arts and at the Chesapeake College.  She has since studied under Mary Ekroos, Jean Ranney Smith and Sung Hong.
