About Susan Stacy

Susan Stacy is a multi media artist who works in a variety of 2 and 3 dimensional mediums. She began her career during the late 60’s in the optical field and quickly moved into custom eyewear design. Stevie Wonder wore one of her creations in a featured article for “People Magazine.” Elton John and many others in the entertainment field modeled her eyewear. “Optics by Victor” in Beverly Hills commissioned Susan to fashion a collection that was highlighted on “Good Morning America.” Her desire to help children get excited about wearing their glasses led to custom-designs applied to lenses which exploded onto the eyewear scene in the 70’s.

When family came along Susan never left her art behind. She and her friend Heidi Botts formed an art/music program for their children’s elementary school. During a child’s primary tenure, the curriculum taught the elements of art/music, introduced 80 some artists/musicians and shed light on the importance of their works. Susan designed a gallery for the children to display their artwork inspired by the course. After 14 years the program is still going strong.

Susan’s curiosity and love of design has led her to tackle a variety of artistic projects. She feels there is nothing more exciting than listening to someone’s wishes, then questioning and exploring that person’s desires to come up with a piece of art which expresses their unique concept. “That is what drives me,” she says.

Most of her work is commissioned, ranging from book jackets, drawings, murals, floorcloths, watercolors, acrylic paintings, stage and interior design. She produced a series of sculptures on Southwest American Indians. Light Sciences Oncology, Inc. hired Susan to design an original collection representing the Coast Salish Indian artistic history as a gift for their international board members. This collection and others are available in her greeting card lines.
