The White Horse

This was something entirely different for me to paint since I pretty much stick to landscapes and seascapes. I wanted to paint something for my grandaughter. She wanted a horse so this is what I painted for her. Perhaps I might be persuaded to paint another 'wildlife' painting or possibly (gasp!) a portrait sometime! Any comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks

Russ

Russ, I am a bit late with my comments, as I have just joined the site. But, here goes anyhow. I get the impression you were a bit nervous about breaking new ground at the time you uploaded this painting. I hope you have tried lots of new things since then and are beginning to feel very comfortable with new subjects. Painting, after all, is the greatest adventure.

Overall, I think you did a good job. Horse heads are not as easy as they might seem! Maybe work a little on the nostril to enlarge it just a bit with a touch more shadowing to give a more 3 dimensional look to  it.  Add just a bit to the mouth underneath to add the lower lip and give a little more emphasis to the jawline. I think you did a great job otherwise, keep at it!
