Moonlight Surf

This was a difficult painting in that it took me a lot of work to capture the motion of the wave and the backlight in the crest so as not to give it a flat, heavy look. It measures 12 x 16 ( my favorite size to paint! ) inches and is painted in acrylics.

Thanks

Russ

nicely done.  A suggestion for colors to use to get a good moonlit sky=  mix french ultramarine, some permanent green and burnt sienna to grey it a bit and white where needed to lighten. Away from the moon you use more ultramarine and burnt sienna and as you approach the actual moon you use more perm. green and more white.  You can view some results on my website:www.lefevrepaintings.com
