Portrait of Madison, 20" x 16", Oil on Linen
lovely!
Super skin tones... but it is the light through and on the hands which you have really nailed. ...Deft flicks of the brush on the sunlit hair too!
Brian, you are a Great Master! I see we all are very impressed with your skin tones. Tony, hope you haven't miss the other portraits - everyone is a gift for an artist to explore. For example how curious is that at first glance it is an absolute unity and harmony, and then the close look shows so rich symphony of lights and textures. Happy painting everyone.
Wow Brian this is absolutely stunning, love the light!
you are so blessed with an amazing talent

Valia said it perfectly. What can I add? The light is just beautiful. What a beautiful portrait.
Very lovely! A glowing portrait.

Just OUTSTANDING!
This one is my favorite.
Lovely, totally amazing skin tones and terrific job on the hair and features.
Beautiful!
You are the painter of light in portraiture!!!
All I can say is amazing! I am inspired. The lighting is so soft it envelopes her. Beautiful work.
Amazing!!!Super!!!
Your portraits are beautiful, and technically masterly. This one of Madison is beautifully composed, the black works so well, and it's wonderfully lit.
Saw this and a few of your others in the magazine I bought a few weeks ago. All of them are inspiring. Outstanding work.
Excellent.
Wonderful dear Brian.I like your work so much.
Who could not pass up this stunning girl with peaches and cream complexion? The composition is wonderful, too.
Thank you all so much for the kind and encouraging words! I enjoy painting this type of back lighting, particularly because of the beautiful warm and cool color transitions that can be achieved, as well as the strong halo effect around the head which helps to draw the viewer's eye towards the main focal point. When painting an outdoor subject like this I will often "key" the painting higher in value in order to give more of an illusion of outdoor light. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!
