Oil painting on canvas, done with painting knives

2010, 100x100 cm

This is the Port of Jaffa during a sunny day. I have uploaded this painting again after doing some slight final changes. The digital photo is taken outside on a cloudy day. It is advisable to view this painting under "View Full Size" in order to capture the 3D-like texture. The digital photo does not do justice to this painting since it does not capture well enough the 3D texture. Also the colors are more vivid.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Abe, i love the jeweled hues and sense of a crowded quilt of shapes and activities.

Abraham, it's good that you recommend viewing this painting with the "View Full Size" option.  It's does give a better idea of the wonderful textures.  I love this intricate, vibrant ,impressionistic work.  It's interesting, exciting and very pleasing.  Sam

This is really a thing of beauty.  How long does it take to do this?  It seems so detailed and labor intensive, although it doesn't have that feel to it.  It really dances.

Thank you Christine for your very kind words. It is indeed labor intensive yet it is difficult to assess how long it takes to do it; this one took me ca. 2 months but I stopped to work on it every now and then.
