This is a very early piece of mine painted way back in the late seventies. This deli (now long gone) was along 9th Avenue in NYC. There is a kind of "gritty" feeling to this piece. The neighborhood once known as Hell's Kitchen has gone through many transformations over the years and this painting captured the essence of what it used to be.
