Mike, this is so lovely. The colors in this little bird are amazing and I love the fact that you kept the other colors muted in order not to compete with this little guy.

This is absolutely beautiful! You are so talented. Do you work from your own photos, or a mix of your own and others? It is difficult to get the little guys to stay still for a photo session:) Your detail is impeccable!

Thank you for the nice comments, I use both memory and photo's some I've taken or other photographer's I know. If I get images of the internet I try and use it for reference. If I do use the subject matter I totally rework the surroundings.
